Maintenance Technician 

My client, a large food producer is looking to recruit a Maintenance Technician for their Galway site. You will be responsible for planned maintenance and breakdown repairs on production and packaging equipment, working to high food safety and hygiene standards.

 You will work closely with production teams to resolve technical issues quickly while maintaining strict compliance with food safety, hygiene, and health & safety standards. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced environment, ideal for a technician with strong fault-finding skills and a proactive approach to maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Carry out planned preventive maintenance (PPM) on food processing and packaging equipment to maximise reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Respond promptly to machinery breakdowns, diagnosing and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic faults.
  • Work closely with production teams to prioritise repairs and support efficient line start-ups and changeovers.
  • Ensure all maintenance work is completed in line with food safety, hygiene, and quality standards (HACCP, GMP)
  • Maintain production equipment.
  • Accurately complete work orders, maintenance logs etc.
  • Carry out routine inspections to identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and equipment upgrades.
  • Follow all health & safety procedures.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and audit-ready work environment at all times.

Requirements:
  • Experience in food manufacturing (preferred).
  • Mechanical or electrical maintenance background.
  • Ability to work shifts in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment with strict hygiene controls.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a proactive and hands-on approach.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
