Electrical Panel Technician


My client, a manufacturer of bespoke industrial automation machinery is looking to recruit an Electrical Panel Technician to assemble, wire, and test electrical control panels in line with technical drawings and industry standards. The role involves working closely with engineering and production teams to deliver high-quality panels for industrial and commercial applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical control panels, enclosures, and sub-assemblies

  • Interpret and work from electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and layout drawings

  • Wire panels to a high standard, ensuring accuracy and neatness

  • Install components such as PLCs, relays, breakers, terminals, and drives

  • Perform testing and basic fault-finding to ensure panels meet specifications

  • Ensure all work complies with relevant electrical standards and safety regulations

  • Label and document panels correctly

  • Cable wiring, routing, and installation across bespoke machinery and automation systems

  • Work collaboratively with engineers and other departments to resolve issues

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work environment


Key Requirements

  • Proven experience in panel building or electrical assembly

  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and technical drawings

  • Strong wiring and assembly skills with attention to detail

  • Knowledge of electrical components and control systems

  • Familiarity with relevant standards

  • Good problem-solving skills and ability to work independently

  • Strong commitment to quality and safety


Desirable Experience

  • Experience with PLC wiring and control systems

  • Background in industrial automation or manufacturing

  • Electrical qualification or apprenticeship

  • Experience with panel testing and commissioning
