Senior Clinical Scientist
Job description
We have partnered with a human diagnostic laboratory based in Kildare to recruit a Senior Clinical Scientist to join the Microbiology team on a full time, permanent basis. This patient centred team works to provide an excellent service, working on national preventative screening programs to improve the future of healthcare in Ireland. This person will join a team of Scientists and Consultant Microbiologists.

- Carrying out a range of tests on tissue samples and biological fluids to help clinicians diagnose and treat diseases.
- Using various equipment such as Copan WASP/WASPLAB/Colibri, Biomerieux Vitek 2XL & Vitek Prime
- Process patient samples in good time to ensure reporting results are achieved in a timely manner
- Reading plates and authorising results
- Participate in the introduction of new methods to the laboratory
- Participate in internal and external quality control and quality assurance programmes and co-operate in evaluating assays, equipment and consumables where required
- Recognise, manage and contain biohazards encountered in clinical laboratories, including biological, chemical and physical hazards, and apply appropriate safety legislation, guidelines, monitoring and risk assessment procedures to ensure safety of service users, colleagues, and the environment.
- BSc in relevant Scientific Discipline (Level 7 minimum)
- Previous experience performing clinical microbiology methods
- Experience working in a clinical diagnostic lab, research laboratory or company providing services to a clinical or medical laboratory
- Note: Eligibility for Coru registration Medical Scientist is not a requirement for this role, if a candidate is registered, their title will be Senior Medical Scientist.
