Bioinformatician
Our exclusive client are looking to hire a Bioinformatician on a full-time, permanent basis. Based out of their state-of-the-art facilities in Dublin, you’ll be joining the organization at a critical and exciting stage in their growth strategy.  This company provides best-in-class genomic next generation sequencing services to the Biopharma and Clinical Research sectors worldwide. In addition, they partner with the medical community in providing clinical diagnostic testing services to optimise therapeutic intervention and patient outcomes. The Laboratory Bioinformatician will play a critical role in developing and supporting data processing pipelines, tertiary analysis and data management in a high throughput, CAP accredited and LIMS-controlled production environment.

Role and responsibilities
  • Plan, prioritize, coordinate, and troubleshoot laboratorybased bioinformatics analysis.
  • Work with scientists to develop, test and improve new genomic analysis techniques.
  • Design, Implementation and optimization of algorithms and pipelines for use in the laboratory.
  • Quality control, process, package, and transfer customer data.
  • Design and implement automation of daily informatic tasks.
  • Designing live analytics for daily processes used in the Laboratory to aid continuous improvement.
  • Assist in the design and continuous development of the Laboratory Information System (LIMS).
  • Train laboratory scientists in developed and implemented informatic processes where required.
  • Ensuring data analysis complies with company and international best practice and quality standards.
  • Completion of all required records associated with quality system compliance.
  • Participate in nonconformance investigation and corrective plans.
  • Perform data analysis as part of instrument IQ/OQ/PQ validation and change controls for software upgrades.
  • Participation in and where requested, performance of laboratorybased audits.
  • Compliance with the requirements of CAP, ISO 17025, ISO 15189 and Irish National Accreditation Board mandatory documentation.
  • Calculate Key performance indicators (KPIs) as part of laboratory quality management monthly.
  • Participate in the analysis of EQA programmes.
  • Communicate and summarize findings with team members, senior management, and external stakeholders.
  • Adherence with human resources policies and procedures and participation in staff review programmes within the organisation.
  • Attendance at meetings, as requested by laboratory management.

Requirements:
  • Tertiary qualified in Bioinformatics, Ph.D or Masters
  • Professional experience working in bioinformatics in a commercial or academic setting with a fundamental understanding of genomic technology and genome sequencing platforms. Experience in a regulated or accredited environment desired but not essential.
  • Familiar using database management and communication software platforms. e.g. MySQL, PostgreSQL.
  • Experience using programming languages (e.g. Phyton, R, Ruby) and writing in Linux/Unix script.
  •  Experienced using genetic analysis tools such as BCFTOOLS and GATK
  • Experience building, testing, validating, and documenting secondary and tertiary pipelines.
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
