Job Title: Health Economist
Description of Job Responsibilities
Primary Function
Support the Access & Value Lead in the development and implementation of market access strategies for new and existing medicines, vaccines and Gene Therapies, in collaboration with regulatory, medical, and commercial colleagues both locally and globally.
To input into the compilation of economic evaluations - Rapid Review, Health Technology Assessment, MMP submissions, aligned to strategic brand plans, for new and existing Pfizer Healthcare Ireland medicines.
To conduct necessary health economic modelling (CMA/CEA/CUA/BIM) to support national and/or hospital account submissions and evaluation by Irish payers.
Conduct pricing analyses and budget impact modelling to support internal decision making.
To support generation of high quality and timely health outcomes, resource use, and/or cost data to support new product introduction and ensuring continued access for the existing Pfizer Ireland portfolio of medicines and vaccines.
Main Responsibilities
1. Cross-functional support
To participate in cross-functional projects and working groups which support the business
Assist in the development and implementation of market access plans for new and existing medicines in collaboration with regulatory, medical and commercial colleagues.
Adapt and customise CMA/CEA/CUA/BIM models to meet national submission/evaluation requirements and timelines.
Support delivery of Irish specific data to support reimbursement of PHI medicines
Support Medical/KAM's and other account management functions in preparing formulary submissions.
Identify data gaps and support direct/collaborative projects to generate Irish specific costs, resources and outcomes data to support PE evaluation.
Work closely with Value and Evidence manager in the production of external data presentation to local & international conferences and manuscripts for submissions to medical and health outcomes journals.
2. Market Intelligence
Monitor international pricing trends and analyse potential impact on Irish market
Establish and maintain appropriate relationships with market access and HEOR colleagues from across Pfizer to ensure timely access and sharing best practice
3. Education & Training
Maintain relevant skills and knowledge, particularly in the area of HTA methodologies
Assist in the provision of training on health outcomes materials (e.g. cost effectiveness and budget impact models) to colleagues
Desired Skills
Essential
University Degree Level in business, health economics or life sciences
Strong numerical and quantitative skills, such as experience with academic or practical experience of financial, business, or economic modelling
Excellent Communication skills, both oral and written including excellent Presentation Skills.
Strong strategic and problem solving skills including creativity and effectiveness in identifying and managing major strategic challenges
A commitment to excellence – both in the results achieved and in how they are achieved.
Ideally with an understanding of Irish business and healthcare landscape & a firm grasp of customer needs for both Pharmacoeconomic Assessment and Outcomes Research data.
Desirable
Post-graduate qualification in health economics
2 years+ experience of working in the pharmaceutical/medtech sector
Ability to understand and critically appraise economic evidence
Proven ability to work in collaboration with others to deliver projects to timeline
Good understanding of the Irish pricing and reimbursement system
Excellent project management skills including planning, prioritisation and multi-tasking
Good interpersonal and influencing skills
Expertise in Health Economics/ Outcomes Research with recent therapeutic and / or methodological peer reviewed publications a plus.
