Full-time, Permanent Position
Location - Mullingar, Co. Westmeath

Force recruitment have partnered with one of the leading chemical manufacturers in Ireland, and they are looking Plant Engineer to join their specialties at the Mullingar facility. This position will report to the Operations Manager.

The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Design, construction ,maintenance and/or repair of plant machinery. Coordinate with contractors on repair and preventive maintenance activities.

  • Plant maintenance support.

  • Coordinate plant shutdowns with lead operator and work with external contractors, and ensuring all necessary materials and equipment are obtained.

  • Work closely with R & D team on site for design and setting up of new processes.

  • Production support.

  • Support production and is expected to be a person the plant operators can call upon for advice when necessary. The candidate must also become familiar with the associated plant process hazard analysis so that in time they can become a safety expert for the plant. The candidate should initially be a member of PHA studies with a view to be a PHA leader when trained.

  • Small capital projects.

  • Support /lead small capital projects. In addition to working alongside the Plant Manager with capital investment on the site, the Plant Engineer should be able to organize plant modifications or the purchase of new process equipment in support of their project work. This will involve working with operations and vendors on design and specification, working with purchasing to choose the best vendor, organizing the installation/validation/qualification and finally seeing the project to a successfully commissioned conclusion.

  • Support/comply with all process safety management and risk management plan practices.

In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:

  • Level 8 or above qualification in a related engineering discipline (chemical or mechanical engineering preferred)

  • At least 5 years relevant work experience as an engineer in a plant/manufacturing environment.

  • Proficient use of Microsoft Office software including, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook E-Mail systems.

  • Knowledge of quality systems and continuous improvement techniques.

  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

  • Ability to work accurately and with high levels of attention to detail.

  • Ability to judge priorities from a diverse workload.

  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.

  • Ability to work well under pressure to meet deadlines.
