Senior Process Engineer - Mullingar

The Senior Process Engineer is responsible for the optimisation of plant performance through ongoing development and improvements in the injection moulding process and automated systems. The primary objectives of this role will be to complete FAT and SAT, IQ, OQ, PQ trials on new tools to ensure that new tools are capable of delivering high quality products to the quoted cycle and scrap levels. The successful candidate will be involved in continuous improvement projects both in the plant and on the various input processes to the Manufacturing Department. As a member of the technical team on site the Senior Process Engineer is expected to build and maintain excellent
working relationships with all team members & always practice good teamwork in support of day-to-day requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
The primary duties to include:

  • Complete product validations and generate a process window

  • Set-up and start-up moulds as needed in accordance with the production plan.

  • Work with the production team leaders and technicians in troubleshooting processing problems, carry out technical training as required.

  • Maximise output through technical solutions that increase efficiencies and implement cost reduction initiatives within the process.

  • Maintain equipment and processes to a very high standard of efficiency and safety.

  • Ensure that procedures and work methods for areas of responsibility are accurate and fully reflect the process. Identify procedural deficiencies and correct. Implement proper housekeeping and Health & Safety standards in respect of all processes and equipment.

  • Promote an environment of continuous improvement and innovation in line with lean thinking and process excellence.

  • Continually monitor and achieve set goals and targets. (Yield, Downtime, OEE)

  • Problem identification, analysis and resolution.

  • Consistently meet customer requirements and commitment to excellence in performance and meeting deadlines.


Competencies Required
Education & Training
o Degree in Polymer or Mechanical engineering or equivalent.
o Knowledge of Scientific Injection Moulding or John Goff Moulding Practices

Skills
o A proven track record on testing of new tools and the confidence to make decisions during the tool approval processes and on continuous improvement projects that will
lead to the success of the projects.
o Strong analytical approach to problem solving and ability to bring innovative solutions
to the Process.
o A person who can work individually and as part of a team with a high degree of
motivation towards continuous improvement.
o A willingness to travel abroad to support transfers as needed by the business
o Working knowledge of Microsoft Office family of products is a prerequisite for this role
o Excellent interpersonal & communication skills
o Ability to work in a team and communicate effectively with peers and Managers
o Be trustworthy, honest and behave in an ethical manner
Experience
o 6 years+ experience in an Injection Moulding Processing Role.
o Familiar with process set up and validation, including performing process window studies, IQ,OQ,PQ.
o Familiar with Demag & Fanuc Injection Moulding Machines
o Ability to apply Six Sigma methodologies
