Job Purpose

The Commercial Manager is responsible for driving revenue growth, profitability, and strategic market expansion in Ireland. This role combines strategic commercial leadership with hands-on management of sales, pricing, contracts, and customer relationships across calibration, measurement, and technical services.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Growth

• Conceive, develop, and implement the commercial strategy aligned with business objectives and market opportunities

• Identify new revenue streams, sectors, and customer segments within metrology, vision, calibration, and measurement services

• Lead market analysis, competitor benchmarking, and pricing strategy development

• Support and develop country-wide long-term business planning and forecasting

Sales & Business Development

• Manage and grow key customer accounts, including OEMs, regulated industries, and industrial clients

• Lead business development initiatives, tenders, and contract negotiations

• Agree sales targets with the management team, monitor performance, and ensure achievement of revenue and margin goals

• Collaborate with technical teams to develop customer-specific solutions

Contracts, Pricing & Commercial Governance

• Oversee contract reviews, renewals, and commercial risk management

• Ensure pricing models reflect cost structures, service complexity, and margin targets

• Support bid preparation, quotations, and service-level agreements (SLAs)

• Ensure compliance with commercial policies and regulatory requirements

Customer & Stakeholder Management

• Act as a senior point of contact for key customers and strategic partners

• Build long-term relationships based on trust, technical credibility, and service excellence whilst researching, assessing, and expanding the customer base

• Represent the business at industry events, audits, and customer meetings

Leadership & Collaboration

• Lead and mentor sales and commercial team members

• Work closely with operations, quality, finance, and technical teams to ensure seamless service delivery

• Drive a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus

Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

• Revenue growth and gross margin performance

• Sales pipeline value and conversion rates

• Customer retention and satisfaction levels

• Contract profitability and pricing effectiveness

• Market share growth in target sectors

Skills & Experience

Essential

• 5+ years’ experience in a commercial, sales, or business development leadership role

• Background in metrology, calibration, instrumentation, vision inspection, engineering services, or a technical B2B environment

• Strong contract negotiation and pricing experience

• Ability to translate technical services into customer-focused commercial solutions

• Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills

• Strong commercial acumen with strategic thinking and P&L awareness

Desirable

• Experience working with regulated industries (e.g. pharma, medical devices, aerospace, manufacturing)

• Knowledge of ISO standards related to metrology and calibration (e.g. ISO/IEC 17025)

• Experience managing tenders and framework agreements

• People management or team leadership experience

Qualifications

• Degree in Business, Engineering, Science, or a related discipline (or equivalent experience)

• Commercial or sales qualifications are an advantage

Additional Information
