Junior Accounts Assistant
Job description
Job Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Accounts Assistant to join our finance team. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent graduate who is eager to start their career in accounting and finance. The successful candidate will assist with day-to-day financial transactions, maintain accurate financial records, and support the finance team in ensuring the smooth running of the department.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounts Payable & Receivable:
Assist in processing invoices, purchase orders, and expense reports.
Help in reconciling supplier statements and resolving discrepancies.
Support the team in managing accounts receivable, including processing customer payments and following up on outstanding invoices.
Bank Reconciliation:
Assist in reconciling company bank statements with accounting records.
Ensure timely and accurate processing of transactions.
Data Entry:
Accurately input financial data into accounting systems.
Maintain and update financial records, ensuring they are complete and organized.
Financial Reporting:
Assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
Support the finance team in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Assist in maintaining the general ledger by posting and verifying journal entries.
Help in ensuring all financial transactions are properly recorded and classified.
Administrative Support:
Provide administrative support to the finance team as needed, including filing, answering queries, and assisting with audits.
Learning and Development:
Take initiative in learning new accounting practices and tools.
Attend relevant training sessions and workshops to enhance accounting knowledge and skills.
Qualifications and Skills:
Education:
A degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
Technical Skills:
Basic understanding of accounting principles and practices.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
Familiarity with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage) is a plus but not required.
Personal Attributes:
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
Good organizational and time management skills.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Eagerness to learn and take on new challenges.
Experience:
Previous internship or part-time experience in an accounting or finance role is advantageous but not required.
